LTD’s Magic Man
LTD’s Magic Man is a 32” black and white Medicine Hat Overo stallion , foaled on 4-25-90 in Sedalia, MO and bred by Lisa Davis of LTD Miniature Horses. He was the beginning of a dream to raise show quality overo miniatures who would be recognized and make a name for LTD. This dream has become a reality as today LTD’s Magic Man is a well-known name in the Miniature Horse Industry.
This senior stallion of LTD’s has the spirit, intelligence and people-loving disposition that makes him a joy to be around. His eye-catching color draws attention from all who see him, whether he is strutting his stuff in the show ring or standing at the wash rack. Often referred to as “the cloning machine”, Magic Man stamps a high percentage of his foals with his same beautiful color pattern. An excellent example of this is on the August 2001 cover of the Pony Journal which features Magic Man and 2 of his sons.
Magic Mans versatility as a show horse and greatness as a sire has been proven many times. Trained and shown exclusively by Lisa Davis, he has accumulated 19 National and Reserve National Titles, in 3 registries by winning the Country Pleasure Driving, Versatility, Hunter, Halter, Get of Sire, Ideal Pinto Driving and Multi-Color Classes. His fame and get are widespread throughout the United States, Canada and Overseas. To date, he and his get have earned over 200 National/Reserve National Titles and hundreds of Top Tens.
In 1999 Magic Man and some of his get were published in the hardcover book, Miniature Horses, their Care, Breeding and Coat Color, written by Barbara Naviaux. In 2000 Magic Man was chosen to be the overo pictured for the AMHA registry color chart guide and inducted into the Performance Hall of Fame for Country Pleasure Driving. In 2000 he was Inducted into the Hall of Fame for Country Pleasure Driving and in 2002 he was Inducted into the Hall of Fame for Open Pleasure Driving. In 2005 Magic Man received the Honor of being named a Superior Sire by having at least five of his Get aquire Hall of Fame Awards!
Magic Man has been busy at home with the girls so he hasn't been shown for a couple of years. It's very hard leaving Magic Man at home but his look-alike son, Magic Mans Grand Slam is filling his space in the trailer to carry on the LTD Overo Winning Tradition!

Got Questions About Referee?
Due to the information that is continuing to be posted on Jones Mini Whinnies site, I would like to offer a couple of facts to the attention of anyone interested in Magic Mans Referee or any LTD bred horse.

Magic Mans Referee is STILL owned by LTD Miniatures but currently resides in Middlesex, PA.
Even though Jones is advertising that she won the lawsuit, she fails to mention that it was thru a "default judgment". Jones was awarded a monetary amount but was not awarded the horse, Referee, or his registration papers.
Jones has been offering Referee for sale even though Referee's registration papers have not been transferred due to the fact that Jones breeched the purchase agreement in several ways and still owes LTD two foals as per contract.
Jones has been posting statements on her website about Referee and this issue since January 1, 2009, even though in November of 2009 Jones signed a stipulation agreement stating that she would
A. Retract or delete any and all derogatory language from her website regarding the plaintiff, plaintiff's horses, plaintiff's business and plaintiff's business practices.
B.Refrain from blogging, writing or other froms of communication tht in any way intentionally harm the business of plaintiff.
To date, Jones has not honored this stipulation agreement and continues to post information concerning Referee and LTD on her website.
The information posted about Referee and hereditary deafness is mis-leading. Jones states that she suspected Referee to be deaf within a few weeks after he arrived at her farm in January of 2004 but did not mention her concerns until 6 months later, AFTER she had already bred Referee to 10 mares,which was 4 more mares then the Purchase Agreement had allowed for. Jones then continued to make payments on Referee for another 6 months and then advertised herself, Elaine Jones, Jones Mini Whinnies as owner of Referee in the book "Outstanding Miniature Horse Stallions, Past and Present, Volume 1 by Pat Elder".
Jones did not have Referee tested for deafness until more then 2 and 1/2 years after she took possession of him. Furthermore the vet who did the testing was neither a specialist in overo genetics or a genetic deafness expert and stated that this was only their opinion and they could not conclusively prove anything
The facts are that Referee's sire(LTD's Magic Man) & dam (LTDs Diamond Charm) were both bred, raised and are still owned by Lisa Davis of LTD. Referee's grandsire (Shredder) and granddam (Wendy) were also owned by LTD for many years. There has not been any deafness issues in Referee's 10 full siblings or the over 150 get sired by Magic Man. According to the "experts" Hereditary Deafness in overos has been connected to the splash pattern genetics and LTD horses have been bred from frame and sabino patterns... not from splash patterns.
